Thoughts From Within

"When other people become your source of happiness, you begin to be unhappy"
"Never let your happiness depend on things, situations and people for as history tells us, things, situations and people do and will always change"
These quotes I read off twitter started my half-thoughts (as I would like to call 'em) because I'm still don't understand.
How exactly is the right way to be happy?
The way people open up their mouth and say this is What or what not to make one happy beats me.
As children all we just needed were toys, food, time to play and parents that would be there when they need more, to be happy right? Or what other worry do they have? School? Oh please..
When we grow older our parents became uncool, started going to church because your parents wanted us to go, school stress, friend wahala different reasons to be unhappy started showing up from nowhere right?
Disclaimer: This is me just generalising, ofcourse I'm aware there would be exceptions.
I know God is the ultimate giver of happiness, but truthfully how many of us understood this growing up? So what did we do? Found the happiness with someone or things we liked or stuffs we bought right?
Either ways the "someone" & "Something" factor was there right? Although the happiness was short-lived but it was there.
Someone always says this to me
"no one can make u happy. Real happiness is from within"
My own confusion here is, even if you get "within happiness" does someone or something not have something to do with it?
And what is this "happiness from within"? What exactly does it entail?
Is there a right way to be genuinely happy??

The complexity of the evolving human mind makes happiness seem like a hard hurdle to scale. Really it isn't that difficult so long as you don't hold on too tight. The recipe to become happy does not lie in pretence. Happy begins just when you're comfortable in your skin, and are contented with and grateful for what you have. Giving thanks to God also helps to breed happiness. Although this post is half-done... But it helped to search within and rech for the truth :)

DeleteTrue happiness is a decision from within, i agree. However, that decision needs to be refreshed constantly like an internet page because life hits us its with errors. In the pursuit of happiness, it always goods to make it less about yourself though.
ReplyDeletecheers
"Decision need to be constantly refreshed like an internet page" love that! I agree with making it less about urslf too. Thanks a lot
DeleteI belive being happy is all abt d inner outer factors dat come 2geda 2 strike a balance 2 give dat sence of calmness,joy,warmth..i.e..dat fill dat u get when u just wake up n u konw it's going 2 be a gud day coz u got fud, moni plus a bright day...but d min sumtin goes wrong dat filling starts 2 dwindle n u get close 2 d oda side of happy.so in all find d calm center n u find happyness
ReplyDeleteHahaha. I recognize that quote. Some impossible guy says it around me all the time - and I believe it.
ReplyDeleteEver overheard lecturers discussing terrible exam scores? The really principled ones prefer to multiply by a factor - instead of blindly adding marks. Implication: the man who "buried his talent" ends up with nothing. (100 x 0 =? ).
That's sort of the way happiness works. If the vessel within is empty or shallow, the gloss people or things bring would always be short-lived - leaving a feeling of inadequacy. If that vessel is deep, people (and things) would be the multipliers for expansion.
We can't be truly happy till we've learnt to see fun in life: a joke for every challenge, the obituary of self-pity - and, above all, a desire to share the 'little' happiness we've raked together.
Usually, it has little to do with experience or reality. Instead, it focuses on who we hope to be. True happiness, like everything good, is a choice!
I told someone I feel happy a few days ago, when I was asked what difference I felt I said "No Self Pity, I just let it flow"
DeleteSo I guess I kind of understand the concept a lot better and I'm sure, I would understand it a lot more as time goes on.
I've also noticed that when you are happy, instead of the before "short-lived" happiness, the sadness is short-lived.
Thanks for stopping by as always.

My default response to this line of questioning is, "You're thinking too deep! Pull back!" However, let me attempt to go with you a little...in my opinion (invariably formed from other people's opinions of course), happiness is usually based on things and people but what is/should be independent of those factors is joy...I could start talking about joy but that'd constitute a whole blog post :/
ReplyDeleteThinking too deep? I totally agree.. And I gonna stop!
ReplyDeleteJoy... Hmmmmm..... *now Thinking*
Thanks a lot!!!
