My question to you is what is in your ears?
Everywhere you go, every channel you switch to its in your ears. Even on my phone and on your laptop, Its all in your ears.

i'm taking music. Music is everywhere and its so powerful and everyone is trying to make it. #PunIntended
Takes me on a trip back to creation, God made everything and he said it was good. Now who goes about saying that there is bad or evil music?
In my opinion, there is just music that is good for you and there is music that is not good for you.
Does that make those songs evil or bad? No.
Alot of Christians will go about preaching that its a sin to listen to secular music, newsflash; Its not. As much as God cares about what goes into your heart/soul, he doesn't hold it against you.
I know this portion was talking about God but i'm sure it also applies to the acts/choices that can destroy our soul.
So, why are some songs not good for you?
Because they do not edify your soul. Songs/Music is so powerful and it holds so much influence over us. Imagine feeling down and just listening to a particular song and boom you are all smiles and butterflies.
Now that is the power of music.
Ever since i read
I decided to renew my mind by what i allowed in, because i knew that what i was letting in at the time was causing more harm than good, Yes this goes beyond the songs you listen to, it also goes to what you say about yourself and what you let people pronounce over you.
Can i rock your boat alittle? Not all "gospel"songs edify your soul or glorifies God.
there are songs that edify your soul, there are songs that glorify God, there are alot of song that don't.
Just because it is under the genre "Gospel" doesn't make it automatically good for you.
So, how do you know what music is good for you? Simple
Let the spirit be your guide "He will guide you into ALL truth" ALL includes your playlist, God didn't bring us here to go through life on our own. We have the spirit as our guide, comfort, mentor name it, He is there.
Why not let him pick out your playlist for you?

DeleteExactly dear. I'm glad this blessed you.
DeleteReflections...God bless ur wisdom hun!
ReplyDeleteAh! wisdom? I'm humbled. Thank God
DeleteMake sense post
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wonder where some so called gospel artistes get their inspiration. Money I guess hmmmmm all in d name of this printed paper "Money". Nice one
ReplyDeleteThank God.
DeleteOn point post! I concur..
ReplyDeleteNot every so-called song under the 'gospel' genre is gospel. I carefully pick what kind of 'gospel' songs I listen to. And I love any kind of music as long as it has clean lyrics that inspire me and are good for my soul..:)
Exactly, I totally agree.
DeleteIts really important.

Hmm. I totally agree. I just revamped my playlist not too long ago.

Way to go darling.
DeleteTrue... Heard a song titled "Hallelujah" and d first verse and d singer's voice wld almost take u 2 heaven but in truth, the song depicts everythn negative... In truth all things are lawful but not all edifies..
ReplyDeleteWill continue to prune my playlist as I often do.
I also saw a video that was supposed to be "gospel" and if you mute it and not listen to the lyrics, it can as well be something from 50cents.
DeleteIts important to listen to what edifies.
Nice post and write up. Totally agree.
ReplyDeleteGlory to God. Thanks for visiting.
Deletenice post here
ReplyDeleteI love the part where you wrote " In my opinion, there is just music that is good for you and there is music that is not good for you.

I'm humbled and i give the glory to God. Thanks for stopping by and i will check out your blog.
DeleteMusic is such a powerful medium of expression and let's not forget that the enemy of our soul-Lucifer, was once the worship leader in heaven, so go figure.
ReplyDeleteI like your perspective and the way you have articulated this, and I totally agree. That it is gospel, does not make it okay. Some sing to glorify themselves, and not God. There are lots of non-gospel tunes with wholesome and inspiring lyrics for one's listening pleasure, and I see nothing sinful about listening to them too. The Bible says that God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, meaning that we have a secular/spiritual life balance. We are designed to experience heaven whilst still on earth so no use boxing yourself in, only to get to heaven in the end, to discover that you cheated yourself, lol.
I am all for healthy, wholesome lyrics, but there are some songs that I will not even touch with a long pole. Thanks for this share girl.
"..only to get to heaven in the end, to discover that you cheated yourself" Lol... Sheey.
DeleteI totally agree with you maam and all thanks to God.
Thanks for stopping by.
I just read another post very similar to this one. I must say that I like how you worded everything, you made it clear that this is your belief but you're not forcing it anyone. Besides that, I can definitely relate and agree. I've always been sort of afraid to listen to a song that I personally don't think it's bad but afraid to listen to it around others in fear of being looked at like a strayed Christian. But I'm glad you posted this. Keep writing! God bless.
ReplyDeleteThanks alot. I would keep writing by his grace.
DeleteGod Bless you.
